The god of thunder and swords, Take-Mikazuchi, sent this blade down to the first emperor of Japan to aid him in his conquests and help forge the fledgling nation.
The actual weapon:
The real sword known as 'Futsu-no-Mitama-no-Tsurugi' is kept at Kashima Shrine, the main shrine to Take-Mikazuchi, though the sword as a god is revered elsewhere. (There is another sword which is speculated to be the real deal, but for the purposes of this AU, this is the one we're looking at.)
It's big. Very big. 223.5 cm (88 in/7'4") long.
It dates back to the late Nara or early Heian period (some time before the tenth century, at least, going by the sword's style), and is a chokutou (or straight, one-edged sword) with a black lacquer mounting. It's not in the best condition: roughed up patches, broken in at least four spots, holes drilled in it.
Its origin is unknown - unless it really was handed down by a god a thousand years before its time...

Low mobility even for his type of sword, but top-tier survival/impact.
Character/AU stuff
* Sword boy AU Kanji Tatsumi from P4. Because when your Persona is a fricking god of swords and associated with a real blade (which ... okay, it's his leader who gets it in game, one of the most powerful weapons available, but still...) the AU writes itself.
* Stands tall enough to easily wield ... himself? These things get complicated. But he's definitely somewhat taller than canon Kanji.
* Is still learning how to be an artsy craftsy so and so because sitting in a shrine for a thousand years does not exactly give one a good chance to learn. ... Still a natural. He finds modern arts and textile work fascinating, even if a lot of modern things aren't his jam.
* Doesn't dress like a twenty-first century punk teenager. Prefers practical, traditional gear. Still looks like a teen, mind, despite being ancient... and while his speech patterns are rough, still, he doesn't really swear. Might throw out some rather creative insults, though. Rough, battered sword, rough and tough guy.
* Doesn't mention the whole 'sacred blade' bit unless someone asks. Actually, his memories are pretty hazy in spots: definitely can't confirm who made him.
* For the sake of a coherent story, he was more a symbol, a threat, and a lucky charm than an actual weapon of war while he was actively being used, given a seven foot sword is a bit ridiculous in combat. Look at us, we've got weapons like this and there's more where it came from! It's something he finds a spot frustrating, that he's never been able to fight... but he intends to make up for it.
